Why I Became a Pet Sitter

I am excited to share my journey and why I became a pet sitter. My love for animals has always been a significant part of my identity. Growing up, I had friends but always preferred hanging out with our dog. My day lit up when I saw a dog or a cat on my little adventures. I would often take our dog, Candy, out into the woods and just be. That was a lot more peaceful and fun than running around all over.
My longest job was at a veterinary clinic in Junction City, KS. After ten years, the veterinarian retired. After that, jobs were just something I had to do to live and pay bills. There really wasn’t a time when I looked forward to going to work. Something was missing. Fast forward TWENTY YEARS!
When I started MHK Pet Sitter, it wasn’t just about turning a passion into a profession. It was about creating a service that truly understands and caters to the needs of pets and their owners. Here are a few reasons why I embarked on this fulfilling path:
- A Deep Love for Animals: My heart melts every time I see a wagging tail or hear a happy purr. Being a pet sitter allows me to spend my days surrounded by the unconditional love and joy that pets bring.
- Providing Peace of Mind: I know how stressful it can be to leave your furry family members behind when you travel or have a busy schedule. My goal is to provide peace of mind to Manhattan, Kansas pet owners, knowing their pets are in loving and capable hands.
- Building a Community: Through MHK Pet Sitter, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful pets and their owners. It’s more than just a job; it’s about building a community of pet lovers who support and care for each other.
- Flexibility and Freedom: Pet sitting offers a flexible schedule that allows me to balance work and personal life. It’s a perfect fit for my lifestyle, giving me the freedom to pursue other passions, like opening Wag’s Barkery and Boutique.
