Business Hours

We provide services on a 24-hour basis. However, we have implemented business hours in which calls, text messages, and emails will be answered. Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 5:00pm. Saturdays from 10:00am – 3:00pm. If we are at a pet’s home during business hours, messages will be returned as soon as we leave their house. There are exceptions (emergencies, etc…)

New Clients / Getting Started

All new clients are offered a complimentary Meet & Greet.  Prior to the first in person meeting, we will have a phone call in which we will discuss your pets’ needs and MHK Pet Sitter’s Policies.

Meet & Greet

We use the Pet Sitting Software and App called Time to Pet to manage client/pet information, scheduling, and invoicing.  New clients must register their account and read and sign the policies and service agreements.

Once online registration is complete, you can request a time to schedule a consultation (Meet & Greet) in your home. The Meet & Greet gives us an opportunity to meet you, your family, and of course, your pets! This meeting will provide the opportunity to get to know your pet’s routine, where their belongings are, go over any questions or concerns, and ultimately decide if pet sitting is a good fit.  

At the meeting, please provide a copy of your house key.  (See next section) If lock codes are your preferred method of entry, we must still receive a copy of your key.  Electronic entry is awesome!  However, electronic failure while you are away can occur (as history has shown), and locksmiths are not always readily available and are expensive.


We require at least one working/tested copy of your house key. By keeping your key on file with us, it is easier to accommodate your pet sitting reservations in the future. Our liability insurance allows you peace of mind in knowing we will safeguard your key(s). Only an internal code word is on the keys, and they are stored in a lock box inside of a secure office. If you prefer to have your key returned, there will be a $7 pickup/return fee each time and we will need to coordinate a key pickup/return.

NOTE: If you do not have key(s) ready at the time of the initial Meet & Greet, there will be a Key Pickup charge of $7.  Hiding keys under welcome mats is not recommended.  If keys are left somewhere, unattended, for pick-up, MHK Pet Sitter cannot be held liable for any property damage or theft.  Keys will not be left under mats or hidden in areas where they can be found once services are completed.


All appointments are to be scheduled through the Time to Pet app. Contacting MHK Pet Sitting directly can lead to confusion and misunderstood time slots which would be unfair to your pet(s). Every request for services must be approved, and a confirmation will be sent. Please review the confirmation thoroughly and make any changes as soon as possible.


We accept cash and online payments for all services through the Time to Pet app.  You can chose to store your payment information, or pay for individual services manually.  A 50% deposit is required when scheduling pet sitting services that will last longer than three (3) days. The remaining balance is due no later than 24 hours prior to first scheduled visit. 

New clients must first register their account and read and sign the policies and service agreements. Once services have been confirmed online payments can be made. If you need to cancel services within our cancellation period, any payments will be carried as a credit.  Credit must be used within (90) days.  There are no refunds issued.

Pet Sitting Cancellation Policy

During non-holiday periods, cancellations with less than 2 days notice will be charged 50% of the total invoice.

Reservations canceled during a holiday time period require a minimum of 10 days’ notice to avoid the 50% cancellation fee. The cancellation period begins with the first day of the service period. If you are returning from your trip early, we request a minimum notification of at least 24 hours. Otherwise, no  credit will be issued for unused visits.

Holiday periods include but are not limited to New Year’s Day,  Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve.  The Christmas holiday runs from December 22nd through December 28th. 

Dog Walking Cancellation Policy

If we are contacted the day prior of the scheduled walk by 9:00pm, you will not be charged.

Co-Sitting Policy

For the safety and best possible care of your pets and your home, we ask that no one besides MHK Pet Sitter care for your pets or have access to your home while you are away. Our company insurance policy does not cover unforeseen mishaps if there is another individual with access to your home.  If you believe that is unavoidable, please contact  MHK Pet Sitter to discuss. It will be decided at that time if we are able to provide services for you. If you have a housekeeper or other non-pet related person with access to your home, please provide their contact information PRIOR to the first scheduled visit. A waiver of liability will need to be kept on file. If anyone is at your home when MHK Pet Sitter arrives for services and a waiver is not on file, we will not enter your home.
